I'm the daughter of a mechanic who specialized in German cars. While he never taught me how to fix my car (shaking fist, god rest his soul), he did teach me enough to usually identify what's going wrong with it and how to sniff out a shady mechanic.

 

i've been going to Auto Transmission Repair for years for my Volvo 850 wagon on the recommendation of my friend who used to own a Volvo 240. They are always honest, and like my dad, they will zero in on exactly what's wrong and get you on your way for a reasonable price. When one mechanic tried to convince me I needed a new transmission, Larry and the guys zeroed in on me only needing a replacement PNP switch. $150 versus $3500 for a new transmission. Works like a dream.

 

Every time I've had it in for something, never have I experienced a return because it's still not working right, a common complaint i see with other mechanics (and have experienced in the past). They get it right the first time.

 

An honest mechanic is a beautiful thing and I know my dad would be thrilled that I found these guys to take care of my car repair needs.

I was referred here by my repair shop. They said that Auto Transmission Repair was reputable and would not try to sell me anything that I did not need.

True to their word they did not. I went in with pretty much a self-confirmation attitude that I was going to be spending a couple grand to replace the transmission, and they very well could have said, hey you need a transmission job done, because it was skipping hard.

Turns out that the computer system for the gear shifting needed to be reset.

They were polite, honest, and quick to get me in and out of there even as busy as they were.

I even got a call first thing the next morning from Larry to make sure everything was ok with the car. I  recommend this transmission shop over all others in the DFW area.

The staff was extremely helpful. My transmission was leaking slightly and they were able to repair the issue without me having to pay through the nose. The mechanic also suggested a few other repairs, without any pressure that I feel when other mechanics do it. Overall a great experience. I would definitely go back for other transmission issues.
